I'm sure anyone out there with more than one child can completely relate to this, but having to get two kids ready and out the door to go somewhere was new territory for me last week. Up until Wednesday I had had the benefit of a wonderfully helpful husband, his thoughtful parents, and my very own mom to help with the one to two kid transition. Then all of the sudden, they were all gone! Ryan and Tori were up in Maryland for Ryan's yearly kidney checkup (everything is fine there) and I had to let my mom go back to Colorado Wednesday afternoon. I knew I had three hours to get Gabe (and Griffin) to soccer practice by 5:15 and then Awana right after, so I had some time to put my feet up and relax before getting ready. Oh wait, but Griffin needed to eat. And I guess Gabe needed some dinner, too. So Gabe got his dinner in front of a Veggie Tales movie(because it had been a looong day, ok?) Griffin got his dinner on the couch while mine heated up in the microwave. All of the sudden, it was 4:55! Gabe had been too distracted to eat anything, Griffin ate but then needed a new diaper (which he decided to pee on right before pooping all over the changing pad AND his outfit) and I ended up in the car with both kids and my dinner still in the microwave. As I was driving to soccer practice I was wondering what the funny taste in my mouth was...then I realized that I had forgotten to brush my teeth that morning!! Gross. So--we got to practice only a minute late. Gabe's coach kindly put his cleats on him as I collapsed into a chair on the edge of the field with a large sigh. We made it!
I know people have been looking for new pictures 0f Griffin, so enjoy these! He is still pretty sleepy, he makes some very cute noises, he loves to eat (he already weighs 10 pounds!), and he already loves his big brother. Gabe is pretty infatuated with him, although he wonders why he 'feeds' so much :) It is hard to believe that Gabe will be 4 in just a few weeks. It wasn't long ago that he was so tiny and new...
One last thing (because who knows when I'll get back on here to post again??): Gabe had his first soccer game yesterday and he scored a goal! Proud moment.
YAY for Gabe scoring a goal! My heart is full reading about you making the transition to "more than one" little guy! Hard work, but fun, and so worth it! PS: I have 4 girls that really want to come help you out soon! Just sayin'
ReplyDeleteOh, and PPS: Kahana weighs a little over 14 lbs and she is 5 1/2 months old. DUDE it's amazing the difference between babies!!! 10 lbs already?! AAAAmazing!
ReplyDeleteYeah...Ashleigh, I finally got Griffin to take a pacifier. Up until then, the little guy thought he needed to be eating all the time. He would suck on his fist or your shirt frantically and feeding him was the only way to get him to calm down. But now---Peace. Not food. Much better for all.
ReplyDeleteThey are so sweet! You are making me excited for August :) Gabe looks so proud in the last pic.
ReplyDeletelove the pics! especially the one of Griffin and Gabe! love you guys.....Trish
